B18B2 Block to a B18A1 tranny

B18B2 Block to a B18A1 tranny
SO heres the story My friend and I are swapping a 96 B18B2 Block and head into a 90 crx It Already had a B18A1 in it. So what do I need to make this motor ODB0 so it will work in this car. I'm hoping to not buy a new distro or track down a ODB2 Harness

no such thing as a b18b2
but personally i would use the b18a intake manifold because you have to do some mods to get the manifold on the 96 b18 to get it to run right in a obd0 car and then just use the same injectors and distributor that were on the b18a and you should be fine also the trans will work just make sure you torque the flywheel and pp bolts down to specs and atleast loctite the flywheel bolts to keep them from backing out
forgot to add that you use the harness on the b18a motor currently obd2 harness wont plug in or work

umm no you should not change the intake manifold...all you will need to do is change the injectors and distributor.....you will loose power switching the intake manifold....it has all the same sensors as the old manifold.....actually it will have more.....the map sensor will be mounted on the throttle body, that cleans your engine bay up a little...if you want to go even further....you can use the injectors also..you just look inside the injector plug, and use a dremel to remove the little tabs that keep it from plugging into OBD0 harnesses, then you can also remove the resistor box by removing the plug, and the stripping the red wire, and soldering each yellow, black wire to it.....just my .02

Will the loss in power be overly noticable or can I get away with using the old IM. My justification being that the new motor didn't come with a IM it came as just the longblock. Well it may be time to track down an IM for this new motor.

ahh i see....well you can use your old one....i bet someone will GIVE you a 94-97 B18B manifold, and you can xfer all you old stuff to it...IE injectors, and the like....B18A1 made 130HP, B18B1 made 142 because better IM design and more aggressive cams

There are two different B18A1s:
- the pre-OBD ('90-91) version made 130hp
- the OBD-1 ('92-93) version made 140hp
There are also two different B18B1s:
- the OBD-1 ('94-95) version made 142hp
- the OBD-2 ('96-01) version made 140hp
