Icon2 b16a Second O2 Sensor

Hey guys.
I have a '91 hatch with a OBD0 b16a swap.
I know this calls for two O2 sensors (the one wire type.)
I know the ECU is looking for O2 sensor readings from 1+4 and 2+3.

The engine has a "tri y" header on it.
The "tri y" header is a 4-2-1 design. But 1+3 and 2+4 are together (I believe.)

Can I put the second O2 sensor on the 2+4 collector?
Or what else can I do BESIDES going OBD1 or chipping my ECU to not look for the sensor.
Thanks!

It doesn't really matter as long as it's hooked up... you can also purchase an O2 sensor simulator.

yea I always wondered about this. If I recall correctly most aftermarket headers have the cylinder pairs switched. I have never heard of a problem.

The difference between single wire and 4 wire o2 sensors is that the single wire o2 sensors do not have a heater. That is why the factory o2 were located in the primaries to get them up to operating temp quickly. With your Tri-Y it might take longer to heat up depending on how far away they are???

i would recommend getting the ecu chipped for about $50. putting the o2 in the wrong spot or wiring them together will confuse the ecu...it will bog or run rich.

Not really... but obviously you can't just wire the together.

i tried using diodes with one o2 sensor, it didn't really work.
what i've read says the ecu adjusts fuel mixture for cylinders 1&4, and 2&3. if you don't chip the ecu, it won't run right in any other configuration. power and gas mileage will suffer.

So, chipping the ecu seems like it would be the most effective solution here?

Or go OBD1.

Do you just delete the o2 sensors by chipping the ecu? I ask because I want some headers but cant find any with 2 o2 sensors. Also if you can tell me which headers will fit the 91hatch because I'm having trouble finding any that say they fit 88-91 hatch. Also sorry if this seems newbish

So, looks like I'll be going OBD1 to solve this problem!
Thanks for the input guys!

You need to research... obviously I understand you are just trying to get established and get your post count up... but why try and take over someone else's thread? Make your own... Obviously if you "chip" an ECU you can disable the secondary O2 or even all the O2's depending on what software you are using. Also, if you haven't noticed - under the hood the CRX, Hatchbacks, and Sedans all look practically identical (oh boy I may be on to something here!)... I'll leave it at that.

Not trying to steal his thread. Its on the same subject, so if I start a new tread someone would say read this one. obviously if I made this far in get a B16a in my car I know that they are all the same under the hood. Maybe I was hoping he or some one could tell me a header part number. As far as you go, do you ever really help anybody or just around being a jackhole at others.

How to I not help people? Where are the write-ups you have done? Where are all the formulas, conversions, and tables you have posted? How can you even open your mouth period? I gave you what you need to know - if you can't figure it out take it to someone who can. You can weld a bung to ANY manifold, so what does it matter? There us so much aftermarket support for these vehicles it sickening. On top of it you gave no indication on what you wanted. You didn't say I want cast, stainless, ect or even "I am poor and can't afford a $1,500 header". You give no information and ask stupid questions you get a response on that same level. This is all I can provide.

i have a stock manifold with 2 sensors if anyone wants to pay shipping. you won't find a header for 88-91 hatch because it's a swap. look for 94 del sol vtec or 00 civic si headers. chipping the ecu can disable both o2 and is a good option. i went obd1 and my new map is not as good as the chipped pr3. hope this helps!

Thank you!!! That is all I was looking for. Not a bunch of BS belittling. Thought this was a site for gaining knowledge from others with the same interest as you. This is not my only or first Honda...I own 3, a 90 CRX and 98 Civic and this 91 Hatch. This is the only one that I have any problem finding parts that fit.

don't get me wrong, my new map is from a dyno-tuned B16 and runs great. but vtec is at 6000, my new 4-wire o2 is disabled, and i lost about 4 mpg.

my old pr3 had a better idle, with vtec at 5200. i realize the map can be changed, i just had higher expectations going from obd0 to obd1.
btw 4drEF, the ecu you sold me is great!! my initial problems were from phearable.net! don't buy a chip from them!
