B series vs. Hood
My budy has a 90 HF with a B16A swap and he cant close the factory hood all the way. He is looking into the ZC hood. I am in the process of buying a 90 Si and plan od swapping a B18C1 into it... Does this happen with all Bseries swaps and is there anything to do other than the ZC hood?

I know of a guy who had to cut out one or two of the strengthening beams in his hood to get his B16 in. Thats the cheapest way to do it, and it wont bend much.

Re: B series vs. Hood (CRX Si)
What mounts is he using? Tell him to get an SiR CF hood made for a USDM crx and that should take care of his problem if the mounts are good... My hood closes after the B16 swap and I got Place Racing mounts....

Re: B series vs. Hood (CRX Si)
with HASport mounts the engine clears the hood. With cheap ******* crap mounts that will just do nothing but fuckup your car and position the axles to ******* break all the time.. It'll touch the hood and thats a warning sign. Do it right you freakin moron.

is there a way to install hasport mounts incorrectly??? i have the billet mounts for my setup and the hood rubbed a little bit until i cut some of the hood braces out. why would it be different for me? i havent had any other problems as far as breaking axles or anything else. thanks in advance for suggestions

Try shimming the engine down with some thick washers. This is what i did with my ZC swap to prevent the timing belt cover from scraping on the underside of the hood. If you still need more space, try removing the timing belt cover or cutting out a little of the hood support.

with a b16 swap it will always hit a little in the upper right hand corner of the valve cover. Either get an sir hood or try to cut out the bracing(cheap way). If the hood dosn't shut at all, try adjusting the rubber srews in the hood which control how far it comes down.

I have a stock hood hasport mounts and a b20 valve cover on my b18a and for anyone who has seen the b20 valve cover its pretty freaking tall and mines didnt really touch at all, all i did was take out the soft cardboard type material from the underside of my hood and presto.

i used to have a b16 w/ hasport mounts. didn't rub the hood at all. when i put the b20 in, it rubbed at first, but i did this....
1. on the underside of the hood look at the corners..there are little black rubber bumpers. unscrew them almost all the way out.
2. look on the underside of the hood at the hood latch mechanism. there should be a hook looking thing w/ a spring around it. if you look closely at the point of the hood, a straight blade screw driver will fit in the grove and turn it. unscrew this about 3/4 of an inch.
NO MORE RUB.
