Default Anyway to convert Non-VTEC D15 to VTEC D15 WITHOUT Swap?

Title sums it up. My EF has a non-VTEC D15 in it and I don't want to pay a couple grand for the same motor with VTEC.

Slap a vtec sticker on the back and you're done.

5 bills for a vtec head? You can ind full d swaps for 400. I find vtec heads for 100-150. Complete. Then you gotta wire up vtec. Not hard. Get a vtec ecu

Either way it's gunna cost you at least 300
So why not just buy a whole motor.
I'm sure you could find one cheap with harness you need

Ehh... $350ish for conversion
$150 for the head
$100 for jumper
$50~$100 for ECU

Maybe consider a complete Z6 motor as an option too?

Clearly not if you think it's just slapping a head on and throwing in some wires...

The RIGHT way...

Did you miss the part where he said find an engine it will come with a HARNESS? There would be no "converting" needed, just an ecu.

You really should stop posting before you become more and more people's signatures...

If you read my first response I said basic maintence. I have done a vtec head swap with new gasket oil and antifreeze and everything for 350 max. Maybe I just got a good deal but I did it. Everything worked fine. If you pick up a complete head you won't need the dizzy should already be there with the complete head.. Do all the wiring your self saves you great deal of money. I don't get what isn't the right way about that. Maybe I'm missing something.

That doesn't work.
Chassis wiring from firewall to ECU is OBD-0.
Engine harness would be OBD-1.

Typical way, and easiest way, is to get a jumper harness to connect the OBD-1 ECU to the stock OBD-0 ECU connectors.
You can not plug the OBD-1 engine harness into the OBD-0 shock tower plugs so you use OBD-0 engine harness on the new engine and retrofit it with the needed connectors to make it OBD-1 compliant.

VC swap no worky because D15 EF spark plug tubes are on opposite side of Z6.

I say you get a Type-R sticker slapped on each side of the car and paint the valve cover crinkle red like in the first pic.

instant horsepower and admiration amongst your peers.

Sad, he's noticed too and he's only been here a year.

I still learn a few things here and there though after sifting through piles of ****.

You guys ever think that maybe some of the less serious replies are brought on because the threads being created are redundant due to the lack of people knowing how to search? This topic was beat to death a decade ago and nothing has changed. If OP would've searched, he would've found well over 10,000 posts dating back to 2001 (HT search function doesn't go past 01) that discussed the exact procedure he's trying to accomplish.

The only difference between now and then is that D-Series parts are more scarce and cost more.

a lot of people have missed the part where its stated "D15," this would also require a DX to MPFI to OBD1 conversion. assuming of course this is a DX model. so work is required to make the car be completed the right way.
