Default My Build

Ok, since I will soon finish what I started, I decided that I will put up my current progress, and then move ahead from here. Slowly....

Well originally I had a silver crx, which was kinda ricey, but whatever.

This is it

Then I picked up a 89 HF crx with a b16a in it. Dont have pics of the car w/engine in it, so settle for this heap of junk lol

Then I moved onto the engine, which I obviously pulled out, this was in Oct. of 2005, so I had it sleeved, TWICE. First time one of the sleeves sunk during the final honing From Darton, so then I got another set from GE, worked out good.

I was originally gonna use some CP pistons with a 9:1 compression, with the stock 81mm bore

Then I was suggested to go bigger bore, made sense at the time, so i said hell with it, and did! Upgrade was Arias Pistons, 84mm, 10:1 compression

At this point I already had just about everything I needed, so the final honing was done, pistons were put in connected with Crower Rods, and stock crank.

Next came the head work, that turned out to be expensive!

I had Stage 2 Turbo Vtec cams picked out from Crower to go in place, along with Valves, and Dual Springs, and Retaines, for that high-revving fun

For the head, we had it flycut to 84mm as well, and the "speed bumps" were removed around the valves, and a small port job, and combustion chambers were mildy pnp as well, that was basically the expensive part of the head. Here is a picture of that finished product.

Then came the assembly of the two, using some kick *** OEM stuff

At some point during this time, I got a kid coming to my house asking me if I want to sell my car, the crx was just parked outside, and I wasnt driiving it, so I said sure, because my engine was taking forever, it was now around march

Finally, the engine is finished

So then I picked up some 880 cc injectors from Precision, a TiAL wastegate and BOV, FMIC, and T4 T60-1 turbo

A local shop is going to build me a custom turbo manifold. So no pics of that yet.

It is now april, I have my engine ready, and the turbo, but no car, I got rid of the 89 HF, and sold the silver crx, a few months go by, and I cant find a car that I like, finally, while driving around one day I spot this white crx, and I drive over to it, it doesnt have a for sale sign, but the owner is standing around outside. I ask him if he's selling it, he says 2g's, I'm willing to pay that. So we talk a little bit, and we settle for 1800, the next morning I go to pick up my new ride, 1991 CRX Si

Very minor rust in the quarters, I decide I'm going to take care of that before it progresses, so two weeks after getting the car, I take it a guy's shop, and he fixes the rust, and resprays it the factory color, minus the hood.

During that time, I also went ahead and picked up a JDM ITR Steering Wheel, so I installed that in there.

Some more time goes by, and I have nothing better to do, so I install a short shifter, and Tsudo shift ****.

That's pretty much as far as I get, this winter I'll be putting in the b16a, and boosting it soon after, so keep an eye out

I knew I wasn't the only one who drives around asking people do they want to sell their car. Just because their isn't a for sale sign on it doesn't mean anything............money talks.

Thats compression is rather high for a turbo car don't cha think? I'd hate to see you blow that thing after all of that work.

Well, this weekend I will see if I can afford to purchase a clutch/pressure plate/flywheel combo for my car, and be capable of holding upwards of 600 hp without breaking a sweat. If I can get that, my progress will move along more quickly.

Other than that, I have a set of motor mounts that I dont know wether to use or not, I'll clean them up and take a picture for you guys to see, and you guys can tell me if I should go ahead or not.

Thanks for the support and feedback

myth.

the reason people insist on low compression is because thats how its always been from the hot rod days.

low grade gas and no tuning options.

10:1 is not 'high compression'

Looks like a good build so far! The car is nice and clean too, i'd lose that steering wheel though, they just don't look right in EF's....too roundy.

It cost me 800 total, including repairing the rust spots with new material welded in, removing all small dents and dings. and painting it.
