So you bought an EF Hatchback for $500 that came with an LSVTEC swap? Score.

You were building a CRX but it failed? What went wrong?

You are swapping the LSVTEC out for a B20B? Is that the'96-'98 or '98-'01 spec? It's just a little compression change if I remember right. But it's like 20 HP.

Your photobucket is private. Also, posting photos here is much easier for everyone else.

I'm in for the back story. Not sure whats wrong with an EF with a motor to be going for $500. Also not sure what went wrong with a CRX to completely give up on it.

Ew, vin trouble.

Okay. So it's an EF hatch shell essentially?

That's a video I made. I suggest using a computer+browser. If you want to post pics on the app, I'm sure someone out there has a video tutorial.

That's good. Makes it easy if the wiring was done right.

It is a 4th Gen, commonly referred to as the EF for ease of conversation.

1st - 72-79
2nd - 80-83
3rd - 84-87
EF - 88-91
EG -92-95
EK -96-00
ES - 01-05
FG - 06-present
And the ED6 is the standard USDM Hatch. That's what my car is.

Get either a cable LS engine tranny (90-93 Teg?) or a cable B16A tranny. I suggest the latter of the two. Bolts right up. And it uses the factory cable actuated trans.

Import one? Get a complete rebuilt trans with LSD on here for $1500. If you want a cheap one, hit up a couple junkyards and search.

A few questions i have that should be easy to answer.

The engine im getting is a 96-98 b20b p8r.

Ecu. Pr4 or p75(obd1/obd2)?
What axles should i use if i get a dc2 ls tranny.
What clutch.

I think thats all ive got for questions i understand the b18a swap pretty well since its just the da axles ecu and tranny. But idk about for this

I'd use the P75 I guess. Or chip and tune for it if you really want.
With the DC LS trans you should be able to use the DC axles and half shaft I believe. Clutch is trans specific. Get one to match the trans.

Feel free to correct me.

Alright thanks. I was thinking about getting dss axles since there suppoaedly better built and fit any b hydro swap or cable for the ef. Wpild they be worth the 300? And i got a obd2 p75 evu and get a dc ls trans in a week also ordered a clutch from action clutches.

Hmm. Didn't know the P75 was OBD2. That's going to be annoying iirc. Any B series axles fit any b series trans I believe. You can use DA axles too, with a DA half shaft. That's what most people do. The DSS axles are worth it if you plan on putting down more power than stock. You get the security of 'new' axles too.

You'll want OBD1 I believe. I hope someone else chimes in. But OBD2 in an EF is a pain, right?

Hopefully i can find out. Do i just need to obd1 convert the p8r? What do i need for that.
I need to find out asap....hondafeatnw is 1 month away i wanna take it out there. Been a dream for years. Please help haha.

On another note im eventually getting bc valve springs fearra valves mild pnp bc stage 3 cams skunk 2 cam gears eddie intake and skunk 2 header with 2.5" exhaust. I tried doing a engine hp calculator...i put dohc non vtec mild port work peak perfprmance at 6800 rpm and then 7200 no f/i 1500 ft elevation 2300 lbs. And it told me that i should get 176.17 bhp/149.75 whp-186.54 bhp/158.56 whp and 14.42-14.21 in the quarter mile. Does this power seem right for stated parts? What amount of torque. Where should peak performance be without skeeved bottom stock crank rods with arp hardware

I had a b20 swap a few years ago and two obd1 ecu's.....the pr4 and p75. My car ran a lot better with a pr4...even idle quality. I could literally take one out and plug the other in and there was a difference. Just thought I'd share my experience
