Default 91 civic hb starting problem...

first the story
in april 2002 i got a dui and my car sat until now.

now the problem
replaced fuel filter, its getting spark, but gas doesn't seem to want to make it to the fuel filter, could this be a fuel pump problem or when i did that i depressurized the gas lines or something?? i know what the hum of a fuel pump sounds like and i think im hearing it, but isn't the fuel pump on a honda in-tank? any suggestions?

sometimes junk in the tank will lodge itself in a line or something.
Remove fuel filter and crank your engine to see if gas is actually reaching it.
You should see it squirt. If that is okay, and it does not fire, maybe bad gas? Did you put stabilizer in it last year? If not drain tank and refill with good gas.

so i should remove the filter and crank er over and watch for gas to shoot out of the line. and if it doesn't, then the lines clogged or the pumps bad. the gas is bad, its over two years old and the worst part is that its a full tank of it as well.

Yup. But if you are hearing the pump buzz, then i doubt at first glance it is the pump. Sometimes deposits will accumulate and clog your line when it is sitting...

Also, if your gas is old, it may not be prime enough to light up... So...

If you are getting gas past the filter, then change gas and see.
If you are not getting gas past the filter, try blowing air through the line (maybe that will work) or disassemble the tank and lines.
If you are getting gas past the filter, and you are positive the gas is good, then it could also be something upstream from the filter...

good luck

im betting bad gas.. you can try...

1. Fill the rest of the tank w/ good premium gas

2. Drain and fill.

1 might work, 2 would be the most cost effective way (cuz if 1 doesnt work you have wasted gas! )

its way bad gas... 2 years old, doesn't even smell like gas one bit. and its a completely full tank of bad gas. so which is the best way to drain it? drop the tank? or try to syphon the gas though the thinger...

COuld be a bunch of things. Now you say your car has been sitting for 2 years right? where was it stored? Was it started any time during that period?

What you need to do then is to replace spark plugs, wires, air filter, charge battery, distributor (if equipped), oil, pcv valve, etc.... a good tune up.

make sure no fuses are blown, including under the hood.

make sure nothing is obstructing air duct.

then, give it a start...

a car, sitting around for that amount of time (possibly outdoors too) might have a bunch of problems.

Maybe someone here has another idea.
