89 crx jdm d15b wont rev past 4500
Ok so i recently swapped a jdm d15b into my 1989 crx dx. First of all was the dpfi to mpfi swap i got the car running but was running terrible. I swapped out the obd0 intake that was put on it(previous owner) for z6 IM and TB also changed plugs and wires. Now it does run alot smoother but still is in limp mode i do believe. Im throwing code 22 and 19, auto transaxle and vtec pressure switch. Ive swapped out 3 dizzys now, and 2 p28s mines auto my buddys is 5 spd.. No difference, checked all grounds tons of spark and fuel. Im not too sure were else to start, crank/cam pos sensor? all my vacuum lines are right and sealed. it will rev clean but acts like its hitting a 2 step at 4500. Its a virgin p28. Kind of stumped right now, any advice?

Code 22 is because you have an Automatic ECU when your car (I'm assuming) is a 5 speed.
Code 19 is your VTEC Oil Pressure switch. Do you have this wired into the 1 wire VTEC solenoid?

Yea car is 5 speed. I don't have vtec wired up yet wanted to get it running right. I'm not worried about those two codes right now just not sure where to start with the car revving to 4500

My Ls did the same thing at four grand it ended up being the cylinder position sensor wiring between the ECU and the distributor. I rewired it at the ECU and havent had a problem since.

Hook it up and maybe code 22 will go away.... and maybe it will act correctly when you hit 4500. That's the stock vtec engagement point so your ECU is freaking out since you don't have vtec wired in.

Re: 89 crx jdm d15b wont rev past 4500
I wired up vtec. Code went away but still wont Rev overb4500 I also double checked crank angle sensor and cylinder position sensor. Everything is fine but just ***** and gigs I swapped the wires around on both sensors and no change. I do not have o2 sensors hooked up but I've ran cars without them before and never had a ecu go into limp mode. Any other ideas?

Maybe leaning toward clogged cat. Car has been apart for two months no it ran fine before I did the swap swap but my 4dr Ek had very similar problems with a clogged cat

Does the engine free rev (in neutral) to redline?
What codes are you getting now?
Why don't you run an O2 sensor?
Without the O2, you are taking out a key component that controls how much fuel the engine sees. Basically you are robbing yourself from power. I could understand running no O2 if you had a tuned ECU for a race engine, but you don't... you have an untouched P28.

Very odd you aren't getting an O2 error at all.
That has me thinking something is really wrong with your wiring.
Anyway, you can clear that code 19

"remove RP17 and RP18
replace RP18 with a jumper wire"

check engine light on? did you convert to mpfi? you need a si dizzy which you would have to run two wires from the ecu to the new dizzy plug.. look up dpfi-mpfi, sounds like wiring issue. Bad tps?

Re: 89 crx jdm d15b wont rev past 4500
all fixed.. so i got sick of messing with this car, so i tore everything apart and started checking all the wiring with multi meter. I came across the the dpfi to mpfi write up i used and double checked everythng, realizing that the chart read. Inj1. Inj.2 Inj.3 Inj.4 and didnt realize that i had wired the injectors like this starting at the dizzy side.. Meaning they were backwards, As The dizzy side counts inj.4, inj.3 ect.. Thanks for all help guys!
