as many problems that i have been having with this swap, this has to be by far the weirdest.
car was overheating so i removed the thermostat completely. wont get over half mark just idling only when i drive distances.
overflow tank fills up and steam was coming from both radiator and overflow caps. thats when i removed the thermostat.
now i am not getting any steam what so ever, but overflow is still filling up.
here is the weird part(to me anyways)...sitting in the car after burbing(which the heater blows like H-E-L-L now) temp gauge rose like normal. didnt want to chance it so i drove with the heater on. about 15 mins into the ride, the temp gauge started to go up..then down..then up..then down...it didnt reach complete HOT but close enough.
so i stopped to see if anything was leaking and if steam was coming from radiator or overflow...nothing. but i did notice that the overflow was at the very top again.
since i was really fed up with it and it being 6am here, i said f it and drove home.
the other weird part is whenever i keep the rpms higher than 5k, the temp went down and when i deccelerated(rpms drop) it would slowly rise back up. again never reaching complete HOT but almost.
what could it be?
--thermostat--completely gone( a lot of guys do it here with no problems)
--head gasket--brand new cometic(2 months old) less than 80miles
--radiator cap--?
--water pump--?
also top hose is HOT and pressurized
and bottom hose is semi-Hot and pressurized

If you removed the Thermostat and your bottom hose is still slightly warm then it's your water pump.
It's not recommended to run without the thermostat but it's not my car.
ensure the radiator cap is in good condition where the seal does not have any indentations
Look inside the rad to see if you can see any blockage, with age the radiator can become clagged.

Probably the water pump. That's what it sounds like to me. I mean with the temp rising and falling with the rpm like that, other than blockage, what else could it be really?

thats what i was thinking..water bump or blockage. but doesnt the lower radiator hose suppose to get slightly hot? it will idle forever and the temp will not go above normal. but soon as i drive like 20-30 mins, it starts happening.

ok started again!! on the way to work today(about 30 miles) it was doing good the whole way until i was going up my last hill about a mile out from work. the needle rose up about 90%. i was riding with the heater on the whole way on 1. i know it would start going up because the heater shut off, nothing what so ever. anybody?
