Default Wiring Vtec w/ CX motor

A buddy of mine just swapped in a d15b into his cx and is currently using the CX wiring harness. I've been looking up diagrams for him and am confused. Where do you run the wires to for the vtec, do they go to the grey plug by the passenger shock tower or do you have to run them straight to the ecu? There are three empty slots in the grey plug as shown but i'm not sure if it's for the extra 3 wires for the O2 or if two are for vtec.

We have the ecu (p28) but don't know which pins to tap for the vtec or how to wire it, if that is where it goes instead of the grey plug.

Here are the pics of the plug and what not.

Default Re: Wiring Vtec w/ CX motor (LSEGHATCH)

I wired my b16 straight to the ecu with a 94 cx, the vtec pressure and solenoid, knock and 3 wires for the 4wire o2. In my car one of the 4 o2 wires besides the single wire ran for the cx o2 (which you use) was ran through the main harness (gray i believe) but not into the engine bay, so i pull out one of those black plugs (in your pic) and ran a wire to the o2 heater i believe is what it was, the other 2 i pinned right to the ecu as the 4th wire (o2 signal) in the single wire for the cx which is ran through the engine harness. There is no vtec wiring (soleniod and pressure) or knock or the 3 other o2 wires for that matter for the 4 wire o2 you will need to use. So run them thought the fire wall either at the main harness point under the battery or the coolant line for heater (that what did). With some loom and zip ties it will look fine.

I think i know what your saying but I don't get what ports to wire these into. I need a diagram and also the d16b he got came with a single wire O2 so why would you have to change to 4 wire?

Well if you use the p28 it will look for a 4 wire o2 sensor. And if it doesn't see it you will get a cel for the o2 heater control. And the only wire you would use that is ran from the ecu through the main harness is the orange w/black stripe to the engine harness which is the heater control wire. The other 2 are for grounds.

Do you know of any diagrams that show which wire goes where for what? Also how do you wire into the ecu, or do you wire into the harness that meets the ecu?

There will be no wire going to the pinouts you need(exepct the orange w/black stripe i mentioned above), so you will have to either find unused pinouts from the ecu on your harness or find some off another cars main harness to the ecu plugs(junk yard is a great place to start). I don't have a diagram as I use a helms guide, that god of all honda manuals. Because you have no pinout to the areas you need all you need is the socket pinout that goes into the main harness plugs for the ecu and then run them to the proper sensor.

I know the 92 cx came pre wired for vtec. But you will need the right harness, one with the plugs for vtec in it.

What harnesses are compatible with the d15b motors? Can you use any obd1 vtec harness wether it be from a d16z6 or a gsr motor?

not positive but i'm pretty sure that the b motors should be fine as well, minus say an additional knock sensor.

^^^^

Already veiwed that but says b-series motors only, doesn't state anything for d-series and since I'm not sure if they go hand in hand I didn't use the diagrams.
