Wiring side markers in ek
Ok i was wiring my side markers up in my ek today and i cant seem to get them to say on with my headlights, they just blink with my turn signals. I know in japan all they do is blink with the turn signals, but i thought there was a way you could wire them to where they would stay on when the headlights were on, and then blink with the blinker.

Re: Wiring side markers in ek (Dr. *****)
I have my side markers wired up the way you are try to fo them. Did you tap your side marker wires into your corner light?
this is how i did mine:
The corner light has 3 wires going to it. I tapped one of the wires to the black wire (ground) wire and the take the other wire and tap it into one of the other one, cant remember exactly which wire it is but you only have two to choose from so if its not one its the other.
i've been told the way i wired them is causing a short in some how and i will just go thru bulbs faster. i have had my side markers in for over a year and havent had to change the bulb yet. there is a way to wire them using a relay but i dont know how to do that.

Re: Wiring side markers in ek (714DC4)
i tried that, there is a solid red wire and a green/yellow wire. tapped into both, one makes it lights up all the time, one makes it blink, my dad said i have some sort of wired bulb that wont let it do both and if i want them to blink and light i need a diff bulb, but idk

all you need is two wire from the light and this will work perfectly. i use to convert this type of connection to JDM civic. coz where i came from(Philippines) the side marker only blinks and no parking/city light. you need to have the right bulb(168/194). those bulb can be either negative or positive on both sides. so heres the trick. connect the one side to positive of the parking/city light and the other side to the positive of the blinker. that easy and your done. its the bulbs design that you dont need a relay. if you connect this properly, it would not blow your bulb.

i know this will work coz the JDM civic side marker, what i simply do is cut the negative wire and connect it to the positive of parking/city light. this will result to alternate blinking. once your light is blinking on the headlight the side marker will turn off. and once the headlight turn signal turn off, the side blinker will turn on. you see the picture? but if you want to blink at the same time with the headlight turn signal, then you need a relay for that job.
