Default Will a d16y8 ZEX cam fit into a d16y7 motor????

I'm going to get a ZEX cam off of someone I know for cheap but its for a d16y8 motor and I have a d16y7 motor. I looked on ZEX's site and it said "Honda D16Y8 - 1 Street/Strip Performance Cam". Will the cam fit and work proberly in my d16y7 motor or should I look for another Cam. If so does anyone recomend brands. But I would much rather have this one fit. Any thoughts or has anyone ever put this cam into a d16y7 motor. Thank You.

I don't know if it will fit or not but as for your ? regarding suggestions.

If you can get a zex cam for your y7 then definitly get it because they are awesome cams... If not try Comp Cams b/c I think they are made by the same people? If not then they have some sort of connection with zex and they got very good reviews as well. Good luck!

It won't work. You can't use a VTEC cam in a non-VTEC engine.

absolutly not. the heads are totally different. the y8 cam uses 5 lobes/cylinder because of the vtec, and the rockers are arranged differently, so the d16y5, d16y7, and d16y8 all take different cams and none are any bit interchangable. sorry. your only bet is the y8 head swap.

Yes it will!!! You might have to check valve clearance if you're going to run a bigger cam than the original oem y8. Youll also need to get the rocker arm assembly from a y8 as well and Im assuming you're going to lock the vtec as it will put the cam in actual use? If this ultimately answers your question than its recommended to do a valve lash and leave it on the looser side. If the car doesnt start up or struggles, the valves might be a lil too tight.
