today my battery died. its done this before, i have had it charged about 2-3 times

already. i dont drive my car very much only to and from school aprox 3-4 miles round

trip 5 days a week. and i barely drive it on the weekends. k anyway so when my battery

was about to die my gauge cluster tach went out but the mph was still going the tach

would kick on and then shut out along with my radio. well after i got my battery

charged the idle became iratic, and flucuating. before the battery died, only 1hr-2hrs

before the idle was perfect at 800-1000. its throwing a 14 iacv but i had just cleaned i

it out almost a month before. also when i pull the iacv plug the car keeps a steady

idle really low at about 2-300 rpms but it does not die. Whats going on?

btw the car is a 1996 honda civic dx w/ 99 b16a2 with kenji jumper harness and chipped p28

how old is that battery ? if you haven't already I suggest getting a new one...they do get to a point where they wont hold a charge for ****.

i think the battery is about 3 years + old not exactly sure, but when i took it to schucks to get charged the dude said it held a charge. but its probably gonna die again. i think i might buy a new one soon or have my charging system checked

left upper corner right above the shock tower tophat...follow the battery terminal wire that isn't red.

That aside, it's probably your alternator. Get a new one.

*update*

well i fucked around with the car a little bit. got the idle back to normal EXCEPT for when i first start it. when i first start it the idle likes to jump around a bit untill i give it some gas then it comes shooting down to about 800-1000 and just stays there like normal. also i got the code 14 to go away. but now im stuck with a check engine light thats not codeing.?

Prolly can't hurt to ground your engine too.

let me rephrase that.. the idle jumps around and stays jumping around untill i touch the gas. so i didnt touch the gas at all it would just jump around and be irratic all day...

ask the dude to do a alternator check by unplugging your battery AFTER you turn your engine on. if it stays on your alternator is still good, if not your alternator is bad.
