u found the person.... 92 VX baby...

pretty much same as the rest but has no sound proofing tar.... vtec sucks because its fuel efficent... u get great gas milage with a vx but not very good on power and the gears r long as hell... i think thats it... but if i think of anything else i'll let ya know...

The vx is pre-wired vtec, so if you do a swap that has vtec, you don't need to wire it for the vtec. I have a vx and it is very light, lightest model eg along with the cx model(same weight). I believe its 2095. I did a gsr swap and seem to have reoccuring fuel problems that I can't seem to fix. Other than that, its nice.

Off the top of my head, okay?

1992-1995 Civic hatches from least to best models:

CX: 70hp 8-valve 1.5L engine, 13'' steelies, 5 speed manual only, 3.25 final drive tranny with shitty-*** tall gearing, 1992 had vinyl seats (read:shitty), 10.0 gallon gas tank

VX: 92hp VTEC-E 1.5L 16-valve engine, 13'' lightweight alloys, front chin spoiler and rear under spoiler (cannot be seen - covers a gaping hole between the gas tank and rear bumper), 8000rpm tach with like 6000rpm redline, same shitbox tranny as CX, all cloth equipped, 10.0 gallon gas tank

DX: 102hp 16-valve, 1.5L engine. 4.05 (or very close to that) final drive tranny with closer gearing than CX/VX, rear wiper, 13'' steelies, optional automatic, power steering only when automatic, rear cargo cover std., more sound deadening tar, side moldings, tilt steering column, 11.9 gallon gas tank

Si: 125hp 16-valve VTEC 1.6L engine, 4.25 final drive and closest geared tranny (best), power moonroof with tilt, cruise control, only offered in 5-speed, rear discs, ABS optional only in 1994, passenger mirror std., power mirrors, rear wiper, rear cargo cover std., clock, 14'' steelies with wheel covers, side moldings, unique cloth interior, rear cargo light, tachometer with 9000rpm - 7200rpm redline, only 1992-1995 hatch available in BLACK, 11.9 gallon gas tank

I'm sure I'll think of more diffefences later, but I think I've covered the major stuff.

si-single overhead cam 1.6 liter vtech. rear disk brakes stock
cx and dx- single overhead cam 1.5 no vtech

vx- single overhead cam 1.5 vtech. the vtech system on this model it called (vtech E i believe) the car runs on only 1 intake valve untill vtech engauges and then it runs on both intake valves. not a big power producer. built for high gas milage. i got 45 to 50 on flat highway in mine. nice car for a swap even 1.6 single cam vtech runs good in this car. the vtech wires are there but you do have to change some pins for the o2 sensor if you do a swap and run an knock sensor wire if you run a motor and ecu that use one.

Sort of... it opens one valve normal and the other much less to create a swirl effect in the intake air... this enables you to run a leaner mix as it is less prone to detonation (from spots of the intake air being more fuel rich... with it all swirling it's mixed better).... then when vtec comes on it opens both valves at the same hieght...

I've always thought that would've made a better 2nd stage to vtec then the dual runner intakes...

IE have at 1-3k the one valve half open to swirl the mix (if it's not leaned out it can be used to run a richer mix that will burn more fully, as it is swirling)3-5k both open normal 5-8k both open higher.

Just a thought.

Oh and noone mentioned the EX...

power everything (mirrors/windows/moonroof) same 1.6 vtec motor as si, same tranny, lip, interior.... it's basically a luxuryeque si coupe.... sadly the heaviest civic.

Because we were talking about hatchback only, that's why.
