What's the better deal?
I want to know what you guys think is the better deal. Right now I drive an automatic 98 Civic EX coupe with 65k miles on it. Right now I run 17's, so I don't need to go all that much faster to make me happy. I figure if I put a turbo on my SOHC I'll be more than happy with the speed (I'm not building a drag racing monster). Then again, with an engine swap comes a tranny swap... (even though I would switch to manual later on with the turbo)
I figure I could run mid-high 15's with the stock b18b, and I could run mid-high 14's with the turbo but it's less reliable. What would you do? And don't say SELL THE CAR, because I'm not going to do that.

i'd get the turbo... i'm all about sohc power. and a greddy turbo is a great place to start. it's a nice little kit that you can learn on. it's not going to make you a ton of power. it's not going to put you into the 10's but if you're happy with that... then it's all cool.

I didn't know an automatic SOHC could run 14's with a Greddy turbo kit. I thought it would run somewhere between 15's or maybe 16's unless i'm wrong.

I say swap the motor, or at least the auto to manual conversion. It is so much more responsive and fun at the same time.

Sell your car! Just kidding. Why not do this? Auto to manual B18B swap. Swap to a manual trannied B18B, then turbo the motor later on. That way you can get a manual tranny, a B18B, and turbo. That's what I would do anyway.

I was just kidding about the sell part, but seriously just do a 5speed swap along with a B18B. I don't have money growing out my ***, but I have other weird things coming out. =P

I've been looking into engine swaps, and i'll tell ya, it's more cost efficent to swap out the engine and get the manny trans with it than to just swap ur auto to a manual. and at anyrate, you can prolly get a better engine than the one with 65k on it.
