What grit sand paper would work best when sanding down clear coat on a cf lip, the purpose of the sanding is to reclear a patch.

are you sure it's actually a clear coat?
What most people think is a clear coat on CF products really isn't.
EDIT: Totally forgot to give you a #. It all depends on how deep you need to go with it. How deep are you going to have to sand it down?

Re: (Jonathan_EH)
In one area I would need to go almost all the way down to the actual cf, but other areas are just surface scuffs.

Re: (Sassafrass)
from what i have read and heard i think most people use a 1500 grit wet sand.....so to keep deep scratching to a minimum. i've never sanded cf b4 so i wouldn't know personally!

i used 1500 ..after that it should be hazy...went to walmart..picked up some rubbing compound...and i forgot the other product..its like a wax but its not..they were both 3M and Walmart doesnt have that many bottles so just take a look..it was liek a finish glaze..but yea...wetsand it..use rubbing compound on it..do it with a polisher and then hit it with the finishing glaze. And yea..i dont beleive its clear coat thats on it..i beleive its clear fiberglass resin. I could be wrong. Thats what I think though..GOODLUCK with it

you can use up to 1500 and still be able to clear over it with out seeing a haze of small sanding lines left under he clear from 1500..i usually find 2000 works great and fast for any wetsanding..but everyone is diffrent ..i just wetsanded and buffed my cf lip after i reinforced the crappy fiberglass on the back where it mounts under the car with carbon fiber..its super strong now
