Default What gas mileage does your SWAPPED EK hatch get?

I'll be buying a 96-00 hatch this month and I want something that's decently quick but still gets great gas mileage. My goal is 30mpg, but I'm flexible. This is going to be my daily driver and has to be reliable and fuel efficient.

I really want an H22 hatch but I'm not sure it can pull off 30mpg mixed.

If you have an EK swapped hatch, what swap do you have, and what's your gas mileage like?

Thanks!

hey man it really depends on how you plan on driving it, you could get like 35+ or you could get like 15. just do the swap you want and then take it easy if you dont have teh cash for gas.

I appreciate the response! I realize my driving style will be the biggest factor in mpg, but I'm looking to gather data on different people's swaps/mods and average mpg.

What's that, about 25mpg? EG's have 10 gallon tanks, right? I suppose you're not running it dry...

That's awesome! My goal is to have a hatch in the mid 14's or so and still get 30+mpg when I'm commuting.

I really loved my old H23 prelude. I could beat on that thing all day and it'd get 28mpg every tank. The short gearing made 45mph cruising perfect, and highway driving was actually not as good (since you cruise at 80mph ~ 4000rpm).

It was just SLOW. That thing would be lucky to pull off a 15.8. Plus, for daily driving and utility I want a hatch... several times I wanted to haul things in my Prelude that were just too tall to fit in the trunk.

More swap MPG's please!

You guys getting 200-250 on a tank with a GSR motor must be driving your cars pretty hard. I use mine to commute (00 GSR motor in a 00 Civic hatch) and hardly get on it, use it around town and freeway and I usually get 25-27 mpg or 300-310 on a tank. The highest I've ever gotten was 32mpg all-freeway miles at about 70 - 75 mph - staying out of vtec the whole time .

Ill admit that a lot of my driving is city driving, but thats the thing, we ARE NOT driving our cars hard, I even drove it as easy as I could through a whole tank of gas a couple times and got at most 210, I think its half my driving through city thats doing it though, if it was all freeway Id probably get closer to 250 or so.

you're gonna see a large variance from one swapped car to another, since some people swap them like stock, while others by-pass emissions systems. Different mods to the motor have a big effect too. Although driving style has the most to do with it. That being said, my H22 eg averages >30 mpg.

I know you probably don't want to hear this question ... but I'm seriously considering an H22 swap and was wondering how you liked it. Any handling issues?
