What axles work for a h22 civic swap?
ive been kind of interested in a h22 swap in my ek, but do not want to deal with the axle problems that i hear about. i remember reading somewhere in a b-series vs h-series arguement that a guy used DA integra axles for his swap and he said it was good but i want to know what other people are using and how its working for them. also any other information about the axle problems would be great. thanks to everyone who contributes.

if you get an f-series intermediate shaft, you can use a stock 93 integra axle for the driver side, and for the passenger side you will need a 93 integra shaft and outer joint, with a prelude or accord inner joint. the integra inner joint will fit and lock, but pops out and leaks, some people get lucky, but most don't. if you cant get your hands on an f series intermediate shaft, then you will have to swap the inner joint of the driver side axle to a prelude inner joint in order for it to work.

Dude dont even deal with that bullsh#t im gonna try and make my own axels out of this and that. Spend the extra dollar get driveshaft shop, gator, or even hasport axels. What are your plans once you get that motor in?

Deff. spend the extra money and go with a good set of axles like h-duced said. Saves alot of headaches down the road (I'm running the hasport axles on my 99 ,, love em.) Also make sure you go with some good mounts like Avid or Hasport,, don't go with the no-name brand mounts off ebay , made that mistake myself and cost me alot more money in the long run.

just for the record, my ebay mounts and homemade axles have lasted over three years of flawless performance during relentless abuse at 366whp.

WOW! Congrats I went through 3 sets of axels from Hasport and one Broken hasport passenger side mount. And guess what... It was all under warranty does ebay warranty their stuff? And on top of all that with your 366 hp do you ever put that power to use at the track with slicks?

You must have gotten a good set then. Mine made the motor lean to the driver side and put the valve cover into the shock tower wich also unseated my axle on the pass side causing it to bind and snap axles like crazy. Of course that did have alot to do with snapping the home made axle setup but when I stuck the hasports in with the same mounts they binded a little but didn't break . Now with my Avid billet mounts theres no binding and the motor sits perfect.

Yeah, you gotta love those warranties haven't had to put mine to use yet but it's nice to know it's there if I need too.

Re: What axles work for a h22 civic swap? (86elco)
its a street car, full interior, and no interest in using slicks... I have used bfg drag radials at 15psi for no fewer than 50 passes and really hard launches with no problems. My axles are also under warranty, I broke my driver side about a year ago, but with the wheel maxed out in left turn and full throttle in first gear (stupid me, so i dont count that as a failure), got a ride home, came back with tools and took it out, right to autozone i went and swapped my axle for free! Back in went the new axle right there on the side of the road and away i went. try that with a hasport or dss As for the mounts, you can see from my dyno vid that the motor does move, but it is minimal, and i would guess that the movement is similar to a car with enjos.

The fact that you ar launching at a good rpm on radials and not ever breaking a axel with a H series. unless your 1/4 mile is a sheet of ice

And youre proud of that? I dont understand why people make that kind of power but dont put it to use? Put some sticks on that B. Then that thing will feel like a rocket. Plus it didnt really look like you heated them things up. Did you?

lol im too poor to be wasting tread on burnouts, I can and have done way better, but dont have vids. Like I said before it is a street car, slicks would make it illegal, and if i was going to do that i may as well gut it into a trailer queen and make it really fast. I see your point about putting that power to the pavement, but its a bone stock h22 @10 psi tuned conservatively, at this point I would have to go out of my way to make less power, not to mention it is absolutely unbelievable from a 60 mph roll, it can walk on r6's, haven't raced a liter bike yet...

Yea, I cant wait to get my built one in either. I have another h22 bored and stroked to a 2.5 with weisco 9:1 pistons, h-beam rods, forged crank, p&p head with all titanium valve components +1mm oversize, and crower stage 2 turbo cams. I got it together almost 2 years ago because everyone on hater-tech had me convinced that a stock h22 on boost wasnt going to hold together for very long, so I had it built, and 2 years later, this one hasnt popped yet, and im not replacing it until it does By the way, The built motor is staying on pump gas and meth injection, my goal is about 500-550 safe, daily driven WHP
but i do have a quaife lsd and some 225/40r16 tires that i am going to put in within the next few weeks so hopefully that helps!
What are you working on?

Totally thread jacking here, but what kind of turbo manifold are you running? Been looking around for one but haven't found one yet for a h into a civic swap and didn't know if one for a prelude would work or if I would have to have one custom made.

sounds nice, if I could do it all over, I would have just thrown some mhales in the spare block and been done with it, I hear they are making 400 without headwork, just at that time they were still a little bit new and I was skeptical.

Im running a kiwi (not in my Photobucket), its set up for an internal wastegate because for some reason thats what I like... I ran an ssautochrome for over 2 years with no problems whatsoever, and still have it if you want $40 shipped. BTW the most of the prelude ones fit just fine.
