whats up guys, im fairly new to this forum, i just had a question; i have a b16a2 in my car and everytime i give it gas when the needle drops to around 1000-1500 RPMS i hear a metal on metal noise and it sounds like is coming from the head of the motor. this noise only happens when im around 1000-1500 RPMS and not at higher or lower RPMS. I was thinking it was a piston slap but wouldnt a piston slap be a consistent noise?. any opinions would be appreciated it.

the rpm range u gave is like around idle so ...if ur sure its not from the bottom end... just whenever the car makes the sound get out and check it and if it is from the head if u dont mind wasting a valve cover gasket take it off and see if there are any loose parts

yeah im pretty sure is from the head because i have gotten out to hear the noise while someone revs it in that RPM area and it sounds like a straight metal on metal noise. The car iddles quiet, is just in that one point were i hear that metal on metal noise

These kind of questions are pretty hard to help people on because there are so many noises your car could make and they are hard to describe, just do you best and try to find out for sure where it is coming from, don't be afraid to look into it
