Radiator Frozen.....Advice......
My radiator is frozen solid. It slipped my mine to change the anti-freeze for the winter. I had too much water I guess. It’s a Gsr.
So yesterday I go to crank my car up and I hear my belt squeal (which it never does) then some knocking sounds, then I hear nothing at all, then some more knocking sounds. It ran for about 15 seconds. So I cut the car off and popped the hood. I see water coming out of the radiator and also notice some coming out of the water pump. I squeezed my radiator hose and notice they are frozen almost solid. So I took the radiator cap off and water starts too pure out of the water pump.
I took a space heater and thawed it out some. The water in the top radiator hose has melted. The bottom is melting.
Could it have been ice going threw the water pump making the knocking sound?
I check the oil and did not notice any water/oil mixture.
What should I do? Could I have messed up some stuff?
I may have forgotten some things...I'm still in shock.
Thanks ahead of time.

worst you probably cracked your cylinder sleeves. because when water freezes it expand, so you might put cracks in your cylinder wall.. I would pull the head and see how bad it is.. the water froze and causes your water pump to seize up like that then it means it got your cylinder too...

yeah, if you didn't damage your bottom end, you're very very lucky. Straight water in the winter is a fantastically effective way to ventilate a block.

belts screaming isnt a big deal.
i doubt the rad would knock.
i think you trashed your motor...
only thing i can think of drain the rad fill with anti freeze and see if you can get the engine to warm up??

I too would let the thing completely thaw, and then drain the radiator and refill it with a proper mix. Let it warm up and then see how things go. You said there appears to be no water/oil mixture in the oil so i'm going to think positive here and say I hope (and think) you did not crack your block.
