Transmission Shifter Rattles upon Acceleration..Replaced Lots of Parts - No Luck
When I accelerate (especially under heavy load, like going up a hill or at higher RPM's) the shifter inside my car will shake violently. It rattles so loud that it echoes throughout the interior. Sounds almost like the shifter itself is hitting something. I have replaced the following: CV axles, ALL motor mounts / transmission mounts, and the clutch master and slave cylinders. The clutch does not slip one bit, and it's not hard to shift from gear-to-gear. I checked the "bitch pin" and it's intact and in place. I took off the center console today and found this:
I wasn't sure if this rubber piece that I am holding up is supposed to be attached to the rubber piece below, and/or if it acts as a buffer between the shifter and the metal sides? I am lost.. Could this be causing my symptoms?
If this is the problem, what would this rubber piece even be referred to? Would I have to remove the entire linkage out of the car to replace it? Anything else I should look at if I lift up the car and crawl underneath? Thanks for any help.

I Seriously hope those parts NEEDED to be replaced vs that being your trouble shooting method. I don't see replaced: shifter linkage bushings <---(most likely the case) or shift linkages it's self. also ensure all is snug and tight

Well master and slave was an unrelated symptom, and definitely needed replaced. CV axles - not so much =/

The rubber piece is part of the inner shift boot that got torn off.
Replace the bushings in the shifter along with the plastic cage and it should take care of your issue.

Thank you guys! I will get right on that. Do you have a good source to buy these parts? I usually just use RockAuto but I'm not seeing any of them on there (and definitely don't want to go to the Honda dealership)

Thanks man, I just got this set:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=330867296962
I am also looking for that rubber piece, though. I believe it is #6 in this diagram?
I'm just wondering how #6, #7, and #10 would come apart, and if it would be worth the trouble to replace it or just to replace the bushings that I just ordered and see if that fixes it. I can't tell if the rubber piece that I'm holding in the picture is part of #10 or #6, though.
Edit: D-series engine, by the way.

It's pretty easy here look threw this DIY https://honda-tech.com/forums/performance-45/honda-civic-short-shifter-install-diy-3030618/ it's for a shifter install but it touches the parts you're questioning. to be honest i'd just go to the dealer for #6 I'd think it would be hard to find else where other then a junk yard.

Thank you for the link - that helps a lot. Looking at my car, #6 doesn't seem to just want to slide right out - I gave it a small tug. I don't want to rip it. Do you think the little ring in my first picture is from #10? I'm wondering if I should even replace these, or just the bushings!

Re: Transmission Shifter Rattles upon Acceleration..Replaced Lots of Parts - No Luck
Got it working - replaced 17, 15, and 20 with the replacements from Energy...they were GREAT and made an immediate difference. I was doubting it would work, too, because the old bushings didn't look/feel worn at all. You guys are awesome. Now I feel pretty dumb for replacing all that other stuff (CV's / engine mounts) just to find it was a $10 fix. Oh well..lesson learned. Thanks!
