SRS light for pass airbag... But no airbag!(98 CX)
Okay, so I buy this 98 Civic CX. Has SRS light on it.
I run the code and get 2-2 (increased resistance on passenger airbag)
The messed up thing is: I DON'T HAVE A PASSENGER AIRBAG!
There is a cover for the pass airbag that looks stock. I looked underneath, there is nothing there. No traces of wiring, no nothing.
What is up with that? Oh yeah, the drivers airbag looks fine.

Previous owner got rid of the airbag and put in a block off plate? Surely even CX's come with passenger airbags, but I'm not sure. If not, different SRS computer. There'll be a connector right around the cupholder/climate control for airbag: You can either jump this with a 2.2 ohm resistor to make the SRS believe there's an airbag there, or bolt in a passenger airbag and wire it up (should clip in).

yea your missing the pass side airbag
i have bunch of the resistors needed to trick the srs computer to think you have a airbag

What country are you in? The Canadian CXs didn't come with a passenger's side airbag in '96 for sure, I'm not sure if that carrys all the way through the production line, or just that one year, but I can confirm for a fact that '96 models don't have it. (except canadian CXs with the option package) All US '96 - '00 civic regardless of trim level had dual airbags. US/Canadian refers to where the vehicle was originally to be sold, it does not refer to where the vehicle was built. All '96 - '00 hatches were built in Aliston Ontario.

I went to a junkyard and saw a bunch of CX model hb without airbags. I think the DX models(with tach) were the only ones with passenger airbags)
Kinda weird though, because my 94 had both driver and passenger...
Really weird that I have a code though. It doesn't look like the airbag was replaced on the other side either.

Maybe it was crashed and the airbags deployed . Previous owner didnt find a need to replace passenger airbag and just bought a cover for it . My friend does that same thing at his dealer, but atleast he tells the ppl. Was the car crashed before? Run a carfax on the vin and find out . Be safe

car couldnt been crashed before and owner just put in a block off plate hence why the SRS light is still on it still thinks its there if you dont feel the need for a passenger airbag You can always just jump the connector to make the car believe that there is an airbag in there

There is a "dummy resistor" that connects to the plug. I've been trying to locate it to no avail.
It's pretty frustrating. Anyone have any ideas where this connector is?

Easy fix.
The dummy resistor for the passenger side needed to be replaced.
$20 later from the dealership, 20 seconds of reset time, and it's GOOD TO GO!
