Squeaky EM1 front suspension
My 99 EM1 has a bunch of very loud squeaking coming from the front suspension. It sounds like the classical squeaking noise...like a rusty door hinge or something. I guess it could also be described as a creaking noise. The car has 143k miles on it.
The squeaking occurs on up and down movement and on side to side movement. So if I hit a bump, it squeaks...and if I turn the wheels, it squeaks. The sound is very relative to the movement of the suspension. If I constantly turn the wheels, it constantly squeaks. If I jump up and down on the door jamb, the squeaking occurs when the car moves downward and upward.
At first, the squeaking was only from the left side. Now the right side is doing it. Really the only things that move up/down and side to side are either the steering rack parts or the ball joints/tie rods.
I'm confident it's not the shocks, springs, or bushings. Anyone else have this issue?
I think I MIGHT have narrowed it down to a steering rack only because it seems to need more effort to turn the wheels now a days.
The car is lowered on GCs/Tokicos by about 2'' or so if that matters. Anyone else with mildly lowered EM1s have this kind of thing happen? I've never had this happen to any of the other 7 civics/integras that I've owned...even the ones with similar or more miles.

Re: Squeaky EM1 front suspension
have you checked the outer tie rods ends to see if the boots are all ripped, lubes out, and the joint is rusting? That could cause it like youre saying.
