Speedometer trouble EG8 PLEASE HELP ME
Ok so I was running a eg9 cluster (white one) in my 94 eg8 5 speed. The spedometer started cutting out about 1/3 of the time. It would stop working (usually after starting the car) then by the time i hit the highway, start working again. anyway the speedo stopped working altogether last month (tach/fuel/temp still work). So I bought and installed a new VSS hoping that would fix the problem... No such luck. So I swapped the cluster with my original one (which always worked fine). Speedo still doesn't work. I noticed the trip odometer does work on this cluster (Nothing in the middle guage worked on the eg9 cluster) but the speedo and main mileage still dont work. WHat could it be??? Wiring? I doubt it's both clusters but im going to buy a 3rd tomorrow. I just wanted another opinion b/c im baffled!!!! Any help/opinion would be much appreciated!!!!

Get a voltmeter and see if you have a constant voltage coming from the signal wire. Also check the ground behind the cluster.

Re: Speedometer trouble EG8 PLEASE HELP ME
i had a very similar problem in my 93 coupe and i had replaced the cluster and vss. turns out my vss connector had a corroded terminal and was making intermittent contact. i ended up replacing the conector and a portion of the harness.

Re: Speedometer trouble EG8 PLEASE HELP ME
I have a feeling it is a connector. I just tried a 3'rd cluster and it didn't work. Was it the connector that plugs into the cluster or the connector for the VSS? Where can I get a new one? And where is the ground for the cluster? I see one to the right of it with nothing hooked up to it. But wouldn't that effect the whole cluster? I just double checked my fuses as well and they're all good. I'm gonna have to take it to a good mechanic to fix. and I don't think it's gonna be cheap...

Re: Speedometer trouble EG8 PLEASE HELP ME
This sounds like poor connections in the wiring. trace all your wiring, inspect the connection betweeen the EK and Eg harness. below is the swap pic for clusters. just installed an LS cluster in my EG. Check all connection, i feel your problem will be here.,
