smelling gas

smelling gas
about 4 weeks ago i put in a 4-2-1 header on my 94 civic dx sedan. Ever since then after you start the car and give it some gas you can smell gas until the car warms up. I only smell it for a second after i start the car from inside of it but if your in the engine bay and make the engine rev i smell gas. Its not overpoewring but you can definatly tell its gas. Would my gasket be bad or something?

Maybe the aftermarket manifold/gasket is letting some of those gasses escape? What type of gasket did you use and did you torque everything down in sequence and to spec?

You may have a leaky donut gasket. Try tightening around there. Mine was the same way before. Re-Torque the bolts on the head as well.

donut gasket??? is that the one between the engine and header? I was thinking maybe gasket because i used the same gasket that was with my stock header. Everything is tourqued down to spec thou.

the donut gasket is between the header and cat.

If not you will have a leak to where you can smell the gas and oxygen sensor might pick it up making the mixture too rich. Thats what happended to me except i didnt have a cat so i welded header into the pipe and had a leak and smelled same thing until I fixed the leak.
