Default request: EG6 vin #

I am buying an EG6 and I need a EG6 vin with the dashes and everything so I can get an insurance quote. The car has not been purchased yet but I need the JDM vin for a quote.

Thanks
Stephen

You are correct. JDM cars do not have a conventional 17-character alpha-numeric VIN as required on all USDM cars built after 1979. A JDM identification tag only has the 3-character chassis code followed by a 7-digit serial number, IIRC.

You won't be able to get an insurance quote with an EG6 VIN. You're going to have to call the insurance company and explain the whole imported deal to them. It is likely that many insurance companies will reject your application (unless you do something illegal), so you should probably look for some sort of specialty insurance company that offers coverage for kit/classic/modified cars.

He's not buying a USDM car. Since he actually said he needs a "jdm eg6 vin" I'm thinking he's importing a car or buying an imported car.

And there are several EG chassis in the US (like del Sols and 5G sedans). They're just not the same EGs as many people would want them to be.

There is a difference here - being that JDM cars 15 or more years old are legal to register in Canada without having to exploit any loopholes or performing any risky illegal activity. This is not the case in the US.

ok thanks for the replies...I was on the phone all day and the people that have done it said Progressive....Progressive said no, Allstate siad no, many others said no until I got to Statefarm....

I also looked at specilty insurance...but I am getting it registered shortly after I get the car to were I live so that is not a pheasible option....also I am nearly 20 and they wont insure you unless you are 25 or older and don't DD the car.....

Oh I also forgot to say that it is a real EG6 and not like my EH2 that is outside.....the EG6 that I am getting has the factory B16A and I do not call my CX an SIR...I will have an SIR to call it that
