Replacing strut top hats on lowered car and stock struts... need compressor?
I cross threaded my top hats, so i went to the junkyard and got some 90 civic hats, which i figured out works on the Eg civics .
When i took them off at the junkards (with NO spring compressor) the ******* jumpped about 10 feet.
Anyways, my car is lowered with some RSR springs and stock shocks, my springs kinda dangle loose when my car is on the lift in the shop. But will i still have to use a shock compressor so the shocks dont spring out?
I work at a honda dealership, so it really wont be a problem, but i dont want to wait till tomarrow to put them on if i can do it today.

dangling loose = no compression. no need for a spring compressor to put them back on

hell no compressor. I usually take a towel over the top of the mount and put my foot on the spring/strut assembly with it on its side. Take a wrench and when it gets to the edge of the nut coming off just be careful. I have never had the spring top mount fly more then a foot when it came off, most of the time less.

The strut isn't under any compression. You should be able to push it down with your hand. If the spring isn't under compressio you just take off the old tophat and put the new one on.

Putting it back together, shouldn't be a problem for you to push down on the top hat to get the nut started by hand and then tighten with some tools.
