Recharging r12?
If my buddy can get me r12(hes a certified auto tech)
is there anyway for me to recharge it myslef?
my grandfather works on 134a a/c systems all the time and has the gauge set and a vaccum pump so if i got the r12 would he be able to do it for me?

Re: Recharging r12? (92egSnatch)
If its a 92 it will already have the couplings that R12 requires, the vacuum pump and manifold guages will accomplish the R12 recharge, you do not need to evacuate (vacuum) the system unless it has been contaiminated, but if the r12 simply is just low and it isnt cooling very much, you can just recharge it. There probably is some info somewhere on the web about recharging r-12. r-134a has couplings like a compressor, r-12 is threaded, the vacuum manifold guages can unscrew the couplings and the threads will simply thread onto the nipples of the r-12 system. I have never recharged r-12 since it is illegal without a licsense but im sure its not any different than adding r-134a.
