Rear drum brake making clunking noise
I've got a 92 civic LX with rear drum brakes. Everytime I apply slight brake pressure the rear passenger brake would make a clunking noise. When I step on the brake harder the sound goes away.
It's been going on for months so I ended up replacing the drum and shoes on both sides thinking the drum is warped and the noise went away for a week before it came right back.
I opened and disassembled the shoes and everything and everything looks fine. The springs were also replaced on the rear passenger side. There doesn't seem to be any scoring or anything on the inside of the drum.
I adjusted the shoes several times so that there is slight resistence .. so I'm pretty sure it's adjusted correctly.
The parking brake grabs fine, I can't seem to figure it out. When I'm going slow 5-10 km/hr and pull the parking brake.. it kinda wobbles and clunks.. so I know it's coming from the drum on the one side.. I just can't figure out what the problem is.
Hope someone can help.. thanks.

Re: Rear drum brake making clunking noise
To test the theory that it is the stabilizer links, I tightend up the connection between the link and the bar with tie straps on both sides...and wolla...the sounds goes away when braking.
Getting them replaced in a few days...will do a follow-up again.

Ok, here's a quick follow-up.
