Radio Code `99 Civic
I need to obtain the radio serial number and I don`t want to disassemble the radio to get to it. I tried powering on the radio with 1 and 6 preset buttons pressed, and that didn`t seem to work. Is there any way to obtain the radio serial number.

Check for a white sticker on the inside or outside of you glove box when you open it.(on the sides) The sticker could also be on the underhood fuse box lid. I've even seen it under the third brake light in the trunk. If it's not there, you have to take the radio out. Good luck.

If you know the vin of the car it came from you can call the dealer and they will give it to you. Or take it to the dealer and they will be able to pull it. I've done it about 6-7 times now. Good luck.

I called the dealer it came from with VIN and they don't have the radio code. I'll have to remove the radio to get the serial number of the unit. I was hoping to avoid doing this. DOH!

Thats odd, call a different dealer sounds like the chump's were being lazy. Or better yet take it in with the vin. They can do it probably just a lazy *** tech.

I tried a different dealer too. They all need the radio serial number. Oh well, I know what I'm doing on this rainy day.

Re: Radio Code `99 Civic
Ok, I retrieved this number from the back of the unit: M4F439020A using a mirror and digital camera. This is the only alpha-numeric code on the rear of the unit. I called the dealership and they can't get the code from this. This means the serial number must be located somewhere else on the unit.
Is there a way for removing the stereo without removing the entire cluster that houses the AC, recirculation button and defrost button???
99 civic (6th gen).

I pulled out the unit and on top there is no sticker. Just another stamp M4G429018. Oddly it's only 9 numbers/letters long.

Weird on the bottom? Who knows some one on that line or my line must have been slacking or somthing. Now they should be able to give you the code for sure.

Re: Radio Code `99 Civic
I've done this before, for my 2000 Si. I showed my registration and driver license at the dealership and after a few seconds on the computer, they printed out a little form with my radio code on it. I was in and out in maybe two minutes, and that was that.
My car was stolen and recovered so I had bought an OEM headunit from a friend to replace the empty space. In other words, it didn't match my car in any way other than also being an Si headunit. The code they gave me worked, so it works for all models, regardless of where it is or what it's plugged into. Therefore, this business about needing a serial number is complete and utter BS, all of the same model cars came with the same decks.

Re: Radio Code `99 Civic
There is about 99999 codes they have for their decks. I've owned 6-7 one was a 00480 or somthing, one was 22313, dont rember the others but I rember those two the most one for my teg when I first got it the battery kept dieing, and one on my eg same thing. They have to give you the code but some times they are lazy when you call, or if you have high crime rates they will not.

Re: Radio Code `99 Civic
All the Honda radios (including the several Si radios) I've had in my possession have used different codes.
All codes had to be matched from a serial number on the radio. Then again, I haven't ever had the matching VIN besides for my stock radios from the cars I've owned. Never has Honda asked me for a VIN for a radio code.
