valetine v1 and passport 8500 are generally regarded as the best. personally, I use a bullshit cobra detector that I've had to take apart and solder on 3 times to keep running, but then again I really don't speed much anymore.

I forget what mine is but its an audiovox I think and it works great I get the warning about 2 miles away with minor to no obstructions. bad thing is I dont allways know if its falsing out on me or if theres a cop up there a ways turning his gun on just when someone comes by. I rather be safe then chance it tho, and Ive had no complaints, one of the best investments I ever made. Ill check it out later for you tho.

Everyone raves about the Valentine One, and one other Escort model. Personally, I can't justify paying near $400 (or is it more?) for something like that.

For the 10 years I've been driving, I've used a $129.99 Uniden detector that I bought from the store I worked at. I don't remember the model, but it was similar to the Spoon wheel model (SW388 or something like that )

Just drive smart, and don't speed over hills, past overpasses, etc.

As funny as it sounds I too use this method. Many a time have my passengers alerted me of the cop I did not see. Maybe I will get another kind of detector someday.
