Default Qurstion for those of you with Racing seats

This is for both recliners and non-recliners..i have found some pros and cons and i want your opinon...A. i was wondering if i should remove my back seats (i got a 4dr) i mean i dont drive more than 1 person usualllllly.. and B. Do you like your recliner ? do you like your hard back ? I mean are the hardbacks still comfertable as recliners ? granted you cant ride ghetto, but i mean i dont see many people with their recliners down that far. I also noticed that Hardbacks are cheaper than recliners..so that made me want a hardback...any likes or dislikes with the hardbacks / recliners ? and whats a good one that doesnt break the bank ? (Coribeau sp??)

I have 2 OMP non-reclinables and I love 'em! Comfy as all hell. I was going to get the Tenzo-R reclines, but i saw these and sat in one, and it was so damn comfortable. they have a wider bottom, so they dont even really feel like race seats. if you're gonna get seats though, you gotta get harnesses. I think the seats were like 320 each or something. it depends on where you get them. try http://www.donspeed.com
decent prices there.

you know what, cancel that link. i just went there and it's all in spanish now. sorry.

I disagree, actually just the opposite is true, if you have harnesses without a roll bar then all they are going to do for you in an accident is hold you in the seat, while the car rolls over and crushes your head. Stick with your stock seat belts unless you're running a roll bar.

I see so a stock seatbelt when used in conjunction with the car will keep the roof from smashing your head....... Thats the dumbest thing I have read this week. Where did you "see" this happen?

With a full race seat the harness will restrict movement and aid in communication with your cars chassis dynamics.....the downside is if your harness is tightened down adjusting the radio may prove to be a little difficult. Whereas the stock "belt" system has a spring loaded roller which will give you slack when you need it.........your harness will not but if your on the track keeping you in the seat is more important then switching radio stations.

Unless of course your roof gets madd and caves in on your head for choosing a harness I still cant believe someone could even THINK that

the problem with a harness and no roll bar is that if you do land on the shiney side, the roof could cave in and you won't be able to get out of the way being strapped in with a harness. bring this up in the roadracing/autocross forum and see how far you get with your argument.

What I'm trying to say is if you have race seats, the harnesses are a lot easier to use than seatbelts because of how the harness works w/the seat. I have 2 openings at the top and one on each side for the lapbelt. I'm assuming that all race seats are the same, at least the ones i've seen are. The factory seatbelt in my car had the one part attached to the seat. Unless you are gonna put that on your race seat, i would recommend getting a harness. Plus how would you get the shoulder strap around you? Please correct me if I'm wrong and there is a way to do this. I had my harness in before i got the seats in.

I have used my sparco fixed bucket seat with oem belts and with a harness over a rollbar.

both work much better than stock at holdingme in place, the harness I would NEVER use without a ROLLBAR or cage.

it really easy enough to use an oem belt with a fixed bucket or race seat.

I'm not really sure about a 4 door. My back seats are gone, so I used the mounting point for the back seatbelt. You might be able to reach that, but no one will probably be able to sit back there. One of my friends simply bolted his Simpson harness right to the floor in his CR-X.

So are you saying somehow using the stock seat belts vs the harness would make what the roof does in a roll over different?

The rollbar obviously would help prevent a serious injury but that was NOT the issue the restraint system in use IS the issue gomer so before you start talking **** at least know what the **** we are discussing dip ****.

The harness holds you in place as the roof comes down on you. Squish.

The stock belts allow your body to slide out of the way as the roof pushes in. Slam and bend.

I would rather slam and bend.

I'm saying it makes a difference it what your body is able to do under the force of the roof caving in.

see above "gomer"

I know exactly what we are talking about "dipshit"

I dont argue with idiots.

Slam into what? The windows, the dash, the shifter or the steering wheel? The full bucket seats that I have seen used in friends vehicles usaually clear their heads as they sit quite low in them. While I am sure none of us want to test which method is better I dont think "slam and bend" is something thats "better". The roof would squish the top of the seat then tear the rails as the seat is torn from its mounts while the driver is still surrounded by thick fiberglass/ carbon fiber/kevlar vs. sliding out and "slamming" into a dashboard with his head.

Dr. Cortez.....ricer? Yeah I am just a local track champion with a C5 EK on Volks.....why dont you go **** yourself with an aerospeed strut bar.......nah your too "jdm" yO make it a JIC bar

they allow your body to move inward , last time I checked the doors arent in the center console.

Yeah I am just a local track champion with a C5 EK on Volks.....
what the hell is a "local track champion" and why do I give a **** what wheels you have.
dont assume I wont roll your *** on a track.

you've shown your true knowledge by thinking your wheels make you special.

why dont you go **** yourself with an aerospeed strut bar.......nah your too "jdm" yO make it a JIC bar
I give two ***** about JDM , I buy parts that actually do something

so you can go **** yourself assbag.
