Default quick question, car dies

ok my car will crank over and turn on but immediately dies. wen i try to start it again it continually cranks but wont start. if i spray starter fluid in the intake manifold, it will start rite up. i was told its a bad fuel filter. can anyone else confirm this?

bad filter probably, possibly the pump, but more likely the filter, if it was the pump u'd experience more problems while driving (usually) -- Are you pulling any CEL's? The 43 CEL will probably come on if it's the pump, yeah, my CEL (code 43) is on, can't do jack about it, supposedly somebody changed out the filter...iono, some days it runs fine w/o any CEL's, sometimes it comes on 2 min after driving, so beats me

change the filter first

no CELs at all. i can hear the pump prime and it sounds normal. sometimes wen it turns on all the way and i get on the gas befor it dies and stay on the throttle it will stay on.
