Question about white smoke
I did search around, seemed like others had headgasket problems
I have a b16 and my car doesn't smoke up alot of white smoke, but white smoke does come out of my exhaust and i'll probably drive it for like 5 minutes and it stops smoking
is this normal? i think i was burning oil because i had to top it off (half a quart) every once in a while?
a friend told me, could be my valve seals...
so any help? thanks in advance

Re: Question about white smoke (Nuke209)
vtec engines use oil it is normal. as for white smoke, during the winter it is not uncommon for it to smoke white because if water vapor in the exh. if you are worried, do a compression and leakdown test. but odds are youll be ok.

thats normal, its condensation, a natural byprod. of combustion, and its visiblilty decreases as your engine warms up (thats why it stops after 5 min)
unless is smells really sweet like burning coolant, and you see your coolant levels dropping unexlplainably, then its normal.

well, five minutes of driving, i can have it idling for like 15-20 minutes, drive it and it'll still smoke for like 5 minutes, then begins to stop smoking as I drive
also, another question, my car use to warm up quick, takes like 10 minutes and the temp gauge would be almost half way, now, after 15-20 minutes, it barely moved...any reason why?

Maybe your thermostat stuck open... that's why your needle is not moving... even in coldest temperatures my car warms up (needle gets halfway to hot) in about 5 minutes of driving (3-5 miles)
As for the dirty bumper, just clean it... it is also normal... it CANNOT BE CLEAN since exhausts come from the muffler and they are not clean... you can avoid "the dirty bumper" by fitting some exhaust tip that will stick a bit out of the bumper...

Yeah I have seen a few cars with blown headgaskets and usually the white smoke gets worse as it warms up and it doesnt stop smoking. Also it has a highly distinct smell.
