question about timing belt

question about timing belt
well i am finishing up my turbo install and i am putting my timing belt back on and i did it the same way it said to do in my haynes, "put it on, turn it counterclockwise three teeth, tighten tensioner and turn clockwise two revoltions and check" i did this and yes it gets tight but once i start turning it clockwise it goes loose then tight and so on. anyone have any suggesstions?

umm.. you shouldnt be turning you engine backwards. MY hanyes says to turn counter clockwise and re-check tension. wierd.

.............yeah thats what i said i did, i never said i turned it backwards, you turn it counterclowise three teeth, tighten up the tensioner and rotate clockwise two revoltions, after i did that there is alot of slack in the belt the camshaft and the water pump, am i doing something wrong?
