Default Properly removing Cruise Control??? info needed/wanted

So looking throough thre FAQs I couldn't seem to find a thread involving removal of the CC system. I want to remove it because in the year and 1/2 I've had the car I've only used it maybe a handful of times. And by removing it it'll make the engine bay look a little nicer as well as serve for weight reduction

if it matters I have a '93 del sol si (d16z6 sohc vtec model) which should be the same as any 92-95 civic or 94-01 integra

Start off by removing the actual cruise control unit from the engine bay, go inside of your car and crawl under the foot area, find the top of the gas pedal and there will be two cables connected to it, one on the left (looking at the car from the back) and one cable on the right, the cruise control cable is on the right. If you look at it your going to see how to disconnect it, its just a matter of getting some slack on the cable and pulling it out. On the firewall your going to see were the cable makes its entrance turn that hole grommet counter clockwise and then its just going to come out. Now its your choice if you want to remove the cruise control brain which is on the drivers kick panel its a metal box looks sorta like an ecu. Just remove the two 10mm nuts that hold it on and disconnect the harness that goes in it, and your done.

Bitchin thanks man

I'll do a write up with pics when I do it so others can know.

any idea how much that all weighs? My boss had his mechanic do it on a corvette and it was good for almost 35 lbs(including all cables and bolts). Now granted that a corvette and a civic are 2 COMPLETELY different beasts, but I'd imagine the components shouldn't be all that different

I read your article on removing a cruise control. But I need to install a cruise control. I have 95 civic vx. What are your thoughts on an after market kit, or parts from a junk yard? Where do I start?
Thanks
