Default Oil filter problem

I decided to change my oil for the first time today and i couldnt find the old oil filter on the car. Its a 94 civic dx euro as i live in england. Ive changed my oil a million times on my accord in the states and the oil filter was right by the oil pan on the bottom of the engine. is it possible the previous owner didnt put one on? the engine is a d13b2 carburetor

Finally!! There was one in the end but it was half way up the block. I will take a picture tomorrow as it got too dark now, but you have to put your head by the catalytic converter and look diagonally up ( pain in the *** when your car is so low to the ground even on jacks). On another note im painting my hood and valve cover tomorrow does anyone know if you can use the same primer?

please tell me you mean jack stands. I would NEVER crawl compleatly under a car that is only held up by jack. In the very least put some concrete blocks under it.... but really, you can get a set of stands for like $25, surly your life is worth more than that.

Havnt had a chance to take a picture yet but found this on ht (engine is a d16 jdm) , on the smaller d series engines the oil filter is above the one in the image where the blue nut is. pita to find.
