Oil Filter problem
So I was doing a routine oil change and everything was going fine, then as I was trying to screw in the filter (by hand) it suddenly got stuck half way through. I immediately backed off and took it off, worried it might strip that thing it screws onto. I retried it with the old filter too but neither would work. The filter gets in like 80% of the way before it stops threading in. Any ideas? Or did I totally screw myself over and strip it? Thanks HT. Pictures later.

Maybe some debris on the thread? Try cleaning it up a little with a rag, if not get under there with a flashlight and check out the thread...

This is on a b/d series righ?
Have you literally got under the car and checked if the oil filter gasket didnt get stuck on ther from the old one? Or are you just strecthing your hand in there?

Re: Oil Filter problem
I've always gone from underneath the car. I also made sure the gasket from the old filter didn't get left behind.. I'm starting to think it's stripped. If it is, what is a good way to fix it?

Re: Oil Filter problem
Since you brought up the remote oil filter, does it matter how the filter mounts? Can it mount in any position you want or does the filter need to face a certain way?

Re: Oil Filter problem
It could be mounted in any position. Really, the oil filter on the Civic is not really hard to get to compared to other cars I worked on.

Yeah, they most likely used thread locker. I can't get a good look in it, is there a nut inside? I have no idea where to begin to take this son of a bitch out.
