Default Oil Change/ how often

I just got a 2001 Civic EX 1.7 VTEC, the owners manual says to change the oil every 10k miles. What do yall recommend? In other cars I've owned the oil was changed every 3K. If thats so, if I'm running synthetics can the car go 20K miles before a oil change. OPINIONS PLEASE!!!!!!!

Every 3k it is just good for the car. You can go 10k but 3k is good for the car.

If you're going to use regulara dino oil, then do it every 3000 miles; not like it's very expensive.

If you're going to synthetic, I've heard it's a waste to go less than 7000 miles.

Check out http://www.bobistheoilguy.com and there's a company that will test your oil for breakdown and stuff, but I forget what it is.
