Default oil catch can

sorry may sound like a noob but i was wondering whats the benifit of a oil catch can? my buddy just bought a lsvtec turbo charge integra with the can in it and he wasnt sure for the benifit of it. so im hoping that people here can help. to what i think is just more oil to lupicate the head while the cams shaft spin. but not sure. so help would be great thanks guys.

This is what ive always been told. When ur boosting the crankcase builds pressure and the catch can is just how the pressure is released. Since theres positive pressure in the intake u cant simply use a pcv valve into the intake. If i left anything out or am wrong someone say so

The oil catch can fits in the breather line from pcv to intake. it catches the oil fumes, collects them, turns them into oil sludge in the can. it keeps the oil from fouling the maf sensor, and from sending oil into the throttle body to help keep it clean.
