Just picked up OEM Honda caliper seal kits from Majestic honda. each kit comes with 4 packets of grease.

2 "Red rubber grease" red in color
2 "NigLube RM Grease" orange in color

I called majestic (where i bought them) asking what grease goes where (piston, slide?) but they didn't know!

here's a picture:

z2335 Millers red rubber grease(sold in the uk and is contracted with honda japan..dont ask me how i know, i just know) it is used with rubber seals. so the red stuff is used to grease the piston sides as you move it in and out of the rubber seal. the orange stuff i can only assume is for the pads.

well this kit also includes the dust boot for the caliper slides, i would think one of the grease packets would have been for those pin slides but maybe not?

Pretty sure the red is for the rubber boots and the orange is for the slider pin(s).

here's a screen shot of the helms. it only talks about rubber grease and seal grease.

The only thing that uses seal grease is the piston seal, everything else uses rubber grease.

So am i right in thinking everything needing rubber grease gets the "red rubber grease" and the seal grease = "niglube RM grease" ?

It seems like you have your answer. Can you restate your question so we know what you are still wondering?

Looks like you just use Red Rubber grease in everything except the piston seal, where you use niglube.

Im just wondering why i have 2 packets of red rubber and 2 packets of niglube if it looks like only 1 seal needs niglube and everything else needs the red rubber grease.

i just looked at the helms page again. everything uses seal grease except for the piston seal which uses rubber grease.

hahaha, nothing in the helms mentions "red rubber" or "niglube rm" so which one is the seal grease and which one is the rubber grease

The "red rubber grease" is the rubber grease and the niglube is the seal lube

i called another honda dealership, they said the thicker viscocity one is for the piston, the thinner is for the pins...

red is thicker
orange is thinner

i guess i'll go with this mentallity im sure it'll work out fine.

For anyone keeping score, The above was regarding the Caliper Rebuild Kit for the Front Brakes.

For the Rear Calipers of a 92-00 Civic, OEM PN 01473-S04-000 includes 3 lube packs. Two of these (the Red and Orange) appear to be of the same type and purpose as the ones above. The Red Pack ("Cosmo Rubber Grease") says "Location: Dust Cover of Caliper, Cup of Master Cylinder". The Orange Pack ("Niglube RM") says "Location: Pin Moving Portion". The third pack, a Clear substance, simply says "Shin-Etsu Chemical... KS 62M".

The Helm manual (sect 19-31) says to use the Rubber Grease (Red) for the following: Parking Brake Cam Boot, Parking Brake Cam, Sleeve Piston O-Ring, Adjusting Bolt Cup, and the Piston Boot. The Pin Grease (Orange) should be used for the Pins only. The Silicon Grease (Clear) should be used for the Pin Boots and Piston Seal. All other parts should be lubed with Brake Fluid (if necessary).

Again, this is for the Rear Caliper for 92-00 Civics (Stamped "7CLP13S"). Hope this helps!
