Default OBD1 code reading question

Hello, i just shorted the little clip and this is exactly what happens..

quick blink and off as soon as i start ignition, pause, long blink, long blink, short blink, short blink, short blink, short blink.

so is it suppose to blink real quick when i turn the ignition on?

2 long blinks and 4 short flashes? is that 24? and what is 24? or am i reading this wrong?

do this first reset your ecu by removing the 7.5 amp fuse under the hood fuse relay box for ten secs that will erase all stored codes in your ecu. start your car and and see if your cel comes on right away if it does u got a hard code if not then it was a intermitt code. jump the connector and play real close to the cel blinks cuz i think u read it wrong just double check and get back in touch with us

It's best first to read the code and then reset the ECU. This way you also know whether the same code repeats. Removing the 7.5A hood Back Up fuse for at least several minutes is often needed to reset the ECU.

There is no code 24 for OBD1 Diagnostics.

You will want to j have the blue connector jumped.

Turn the ignition to the on positon. The CEL light will come on for a short time, after that it will begin its "flashing" ceremony as to tell you what code it is giving.

It will keep repeating itself, so if you cant catch it the first time, then try the next time around. The pause inbetween codes and when it starts all over again will be fairly long so you can note that it is the beginning again.

Take a look at this video, there is a quick flash when the ignition is switched on. That is not a code. In the video you can plainly see that there is a pause, then the code restarts again. The code in the video is 65.

Yeah i read it wrong. sorry guys. It was a long flash then that 2 second pause, then a long flash and 4 little flashes, the 14 is air idle control valve so i replaced that and the car runs 100x better (i had an old one laying around). the 10 is air pressure sensor, going to a junkyard tomorow so i will pick up another one. the 10 is still blinks but the 14 is gone after i reset the ecu. THANK YOU GUYS, apreciate you helping a newbie out

You are over-interpreting what CEL codes tell you. Code 14 does not necessarily mean the IACV is bad and code 10 does not necessarily mean the IAT is bad. The sensors could just be dirty or unplugged, the wires could be bad, or more rarely the ECU could even be bad. Code 14 can also be caused by a vacuum leak, miss-adjusted idle speed, or even a bad TPS or ECT sensor. There's follow up troubleshooting to do to pinpoint the problem.

^ yeah i understand, im not a total noob when it comes to this, code 14 is gone so im sure it was the air idle control sensor, code 10 is still there but i rechecked the wiring for a 100th time so im pretty sure its a sensor. Junkyard sensors are cheap and i need to go pick up a couple more things anyway so if its not that its no biggy, i have another daily. I do know what you mean tho. thanks for the imput
