theres 2 o2 sensors, the code i'm getting is po135 which means bank 1. Is Bank 1 the sensor closest to the head or the other one?

You only have one bank in that engine silly....if it says b1s1, that is the sensor closest to the manny...b1s2 is the sensor after the cat. What is the problem that you are having? Just check engine light for o2? Make sure that you carefully check your engine before you replace the sensor...i.e. look for things to make the sensor give a check engine code like a vacume leak. Do you have access to a scan tool?

nope, theres 2. i checked. 1 before the cat, one after. SIlly. i used a scan tool and got the Code po135 which according to the book means heater in 02 sensor ( bank 1) what ever bank one means is what i'm trying to find out . its a 2000 DX hb d16y7 non vtec. and that code thing you made pdiggitydogg doesn't have that plug, this car is OBD2 and can only be used with a scanner according to the book.
yes it is a check engine light that i'm trying to fix for a friend. Since gas is expensive i'm trying to do this the cheap way for him.
and it says primary so thios means closest to the head correct?

Yes, it does have that plug. You didnt notice that all the pictures were of a 96+ civic??

F the obd2 scan port. P#### garbage... Bank 1 o2 blah blah blah.
Use the jumper and it will tell you whats wrong in a much less confusing way...

The term bank refers to engine with 2 cylinder heads....v6, v8, v10...etc. If it is for the heater, then it will most likely need to be replaced. If it were a circuit problem, look at you fuel trims for lean or rich mixtures. I've seen perfectly good working o2's with o2 codes is what I'm trying to explain. Check the resistance of your heater circuit at the o2 sensor when it is cold.
