non-oem replacement bolts for suspension
im doing a bunch of things on my ej8 which requires the suspension to be removed. the nuts and bolts that i took out look really rusted out so i'd like to replace them. problem is, the dealer wants $13 CND for the bolt that connects the front damper fork to the lower control arm, so you can imagine how much other bolts cost. for $13, i could buy an entire bucket from the hardware store.
so does anyone use bolts from their local automotive stores? any problems? i'll be using the strongest stuff i can find btw.

just so nice grade 8 bolts with either lock washers and nut or a locking nut

iv had them on for about a year and a half now and iv taken my suspension apart a few times and the is no abnormal wear to them

if i had to choose between used oem bolts of unknown origin and new non-oem bolts, i would be inclined to go with the new bolts instead. and i'd like to use oem exclusively, but not at ~$13 a pop.

Since your in Toronto, go to a Brafasco.

if you buy a bucket of bolts from the hardware store and install them on your suspension you will die 
, OEM honda bolts are grade 8 or better, the **** you get from the hardware store are grade 5 or worse. Some of the bolt are specially desinged too, there threaded up to a certain point, have ribs on them, have shaper points to get them to go through bushings etc.

That's why I suggested Brafasco. They have grade 8, grade 10, etc.

i would use the honda bolt at least for the damper fork, they have grooves in them that stop it from getting rusted to the sleeve if you use a regular bolt it could rust to the sleeve and have fun cutting it off
