You don't need a hoist to swap a motor
Use 2 jacks on each side and lower the car as far as you can, I only had 1 jack so I lowered each side onto small concrete blocks. Slide a jack underneath the motor with a piece of wood in between and support it, then take off the mounts. Take the rear mount and torque mounts off first before lowering the car

Then lower the jack all the way, slide it out from underneath the motor, and jack the car up high enough to pull the engine out of one of the wheel wells. I've done it a dozen times and it's not hard at all

I was about to say man Harbor Freight all the way. I bought a 2ton I believe from them for $99 with a coupon. Ended up being a little more with the balancing bar. I sold that bitch on craigslist for $150 or $175. Used it twice and made money off of it.

Re: nickle n dime del sol build
It's been 3 years since I've yanked a whole motor but I'm pretty sure there was a nice little trick using a jack, 1/2" ratchet and the LCA. I remember doing something to this extent when I worked on my old EK.
