This helped me while I was installing mine. If you need actual pictures I can take some for you.

I have my ac system installed on my '93 hatch, just not charged or anything yet because I'm still having some problems with my blower turning on when I want it to. (https://honda-tech.com/forums/honda-civic-del-sol-1992-2000-1/hvac-blower-problems-93-hatch-2951794/)

I have to leave for work right now, I snapped these real quick with my gopro. I'll take better ones when I get off work. Sorry for the huge pictures but I figure the bigger they are the more you can see. I didn't have time to move my battery to show you exact pictures of the firewall but on an R134a system the larger, fatter hose goes on the top and the skinner hose goes on the bottom when connecting it to your evaporator. When you get the the radiator area the fatter hose goes underneath your radiator. The skinnier one goes in front of it like in the picture.

Like I said I just snapped these real quick. I'll take better ones later on when I get off if you need me to. Just let me know.

Hope you can figure it out.

as long as everything you bought for the ac is R134a you should still be able to use it. I have R134a lines and evaporator and all from a '95 sedan and my car is a '93 too. Just as long as you don't mix and match the lines from R12 to R134a you should be good.

If you mix the r-12, and r-134 it will create a poisonous gas so watch yourself when messing with that stuff. Also you will need to have the system vacumed at a shop to get the moisture out, and you will not be able to put the right amount of freon in it.

Well I have the lines, compressor, condensor and drier. Only problem is the evaporator holes are too small for the R134a. If I buy the evaporator will everything work? Are the plugs under the dash the same for the R134a evaporator?

the lines and evaporator built for r12 are a bit diffrent from those of r134a. if you have r134a lines you want to get the evaportaor 134a also. even if you wanted to mix and match they are bult diffrent. both will fit in your car either way, they just wont fit with each other.

I had a similar problem.

my 1993 lude had no ac components, built in canada therefore no ac. I went to a salvage yard and bought all r-12 components, exept for lines; planning to retrofit the system. afterwards at a diffrent yard i found the lines exept they were 134a and did not fit with what i had initially purchased. finally i found all r134a components on craigslist to fit my hoses(sinse i couldnt get a hold of r12 hoses anywhere) and put it in my car. It was a definite brainkiller since i had no idea how everything was supposed to look. now everything is in place exept for my compressor.

The evaporator, condenser and compressor all have an elecric plug. I found the plugs for my evaportaor and condenser hidden (im guessing the vehicle came without ac from factory but still left the plugs as an option). However i was never able to find the one for my compressor and thats where im sitting at right now. somebody messed with the cables near where my compressor plug should have been and now i have no clue which cable im supposed to hook it up to. heads up in case you have a similar problem.

I went again to a salvage yard and was able to find the plug for the compressor wich was hooked to a red cable with a series of black intermitent black spots in pairs. I was real happy thinking i could go back to my car and just find a cable with the same description and just plug it up, yet i still have not found it. Also inside my car where the ac button is supposed to be, i just have a black "dummie" button and again have no clue how im supposed to finish up.

hahaha. im sorry I started giving you advice and ended up exposing my own problem. im new to honda tech and im still not allowed to begin new threads. so if you have a similar problem and figure out how to solve it let me know. if anyone else has a tip i will deeply appreciate it.

Lastly. You dont need to go to a shop to vacuum your system. I had rented the pump from auto zone thinking i was ready to go when i unconvered my problem. Auto zone will rent you the vacuum pump you need and the gauge manifold you will also need for $300. once you're done you return it and get every cent back. if you dont know how to follow the procedures for usage let me know and i can walk you trough it.

good luck
