Need Help With 1994 Honda Del Sol Speakers
Hello, new member here. Bought a 94 Del Sol this past summer. The is my 2nd Honda. First was an 82 Civic.
I set out to spend the least amount of money on a car stereo, and here I am.
I just wired up a 300 watt 4 channel amplifier. I bought a set of 6.5 mid bass speakers with a mounting depth of 2.5. I tried them in the rear and the front and they are too deep in both spots.
So at the moment I am running 50 watts to the factory speakers. They sound pretty good actually.
I would like to add some mid bass speakers or subs in they'll fit to the rear factory locations and some decent 2 or 3 ways in the doors.
One thing that struck me was the speaker size. The stock ones are 6/1/8 inches in diameter. Never seen that before.
I measured the depth of the stockers and they are about 2/1/4.
Here are my questions:
Do I need to modify the factory brackets to fit aftermarket speakers?
Do aftermarket 6.5's just drop into the factory locations?
Do I retain the front factory plastic the speakers screw into in the front doors or do I break that away to install new speakers?
And suggestions of what to get for some mid bass or subs?
Thanks!

yes, 6'5s fit. im very shocked you couldn't make the deeper speakers work in the back. id consider making some very precise cuts in the rear grilles and spacing the rear brackets out. any shallow speaker just wont give you what your bigger ones will... as for the front, a nice set of component speakers should do the job.
