Default Burnt Smell??

Lately when I arrive at my destination and get out....I can smell a funny burnt scent. It isn't really bad, and I am not sure if it is related to my cat problem or not! I think it might be my clutch b/c it is hard to shift sometimes, or it shifts really rough! Would it smell burnt?? Anyone have any ideas about what might be wrong??

I am getting my car serviced this weekend so I will know by then, but it kinda worries me.......it's about time for a new clutch anyways!!

well......sometimes it's a stinky gas smell b/c my o2s is not reading properly, and I know what that smell is.

but sometimes it smells burnt.......not gas, or electronics, and I don't know what a burnt clutch smells like!! It could be going bad. 46k with original clutch, and alot of autox and drag racing....so???

It has been shifting hard lately, so that's why I assumed clutch?? just wanted some opinions! thanks!!

try changing your tranny fluid to smoothen up your shifts....that helps alot especially if you have not done so yet.

thanks, but I just had all my fluids changed, but I don't think they did a flush! it sucks too when you get the fluid changed cause with out a flush there's still about half the amount of old fluid left in the tranny

I thought the rough shift could of been the short shifter, but it was shifting really smooth for about 2 months, and now all of a sudden it sucks!! I have never had a manual before, so I don't know alot about the transmission!??

Check the clutch fluid level.......if you are having trouble with the pedal......a burnt clutch smells like the brakes but stronger.

Just a stab at the dark but it could just be a plastic bag or something that got caught on your exhaust piping and is melting. Does it smell like plastic? That happened to me and I couldn't figure out what the heck was wrong until I went to change my motor oil. It could be as simple as that.

It certainly doesn't smell like that! I think I was just paranoid.

speaking of burnt smells....some guy just came into the store and reaked like Dope smoke and mints. LOL.....guess the mints weren't strong enough!
