My Honda got stolen, then recovered
I am SOO happy to see my car again. It was stolen in Newark, NJ (where I live - for now. Moving because of this.) It was stolen on Thanksgiving, and recovered on the 7th of the new year.
Does anyone want to know any details? Should I bother posting pictures of how it looked when recovered? It is in pretty good shape...
They took the:
- Headlights
- Radiator
- Battery
- TRUNK LID (!!)
- .. mechanic said "Distributor"
- Spark plug wires (Might be a good time to do a piston soak, and change those)
- The radio.
And that is about it....

Re: My Honda got stolen, then recovered
Be thankful you were able to get it back. Most stolen Hondas are never seen again or generally damaged beyond repair.
Keep it safe this time. Post pics of before after, if at all possible.
Good luck rebuilding.

Looks a lot like mine. Honda theft is ramping up where I live too...
My anti-theft plans include:
alarm
killswitch
detachable steering wheel
extra set of wheel locks

I like the tuna here
Re: My Honda got stolen, then recovered
One of the first things I do when I get a new honda is install a hidden main relay kill-switch. Then if I plan on putting a decent amount of money in it, I go for the full hidden alarm install.

The title does not get affected unless insurance company totals it and he buys it back. If he buys it back then the title will change to a "Salvage". For a car of this age insurance companies usually don't recommend full coverage anyways but its still an option.

Re: My Honda got stolen, then recovered
Liability with comprehensive covers theft and is $12 per month more that plain liability for me. Definitely worth doing regardless of age. But full coverage, no

Biggest mistake for honda owners?
Getting on a forum and telling everyone what you do as anti-theft/security. Thieves are all over forums...
Anyone who has been around enough knows secrecy is key. Me and my dad are the only 2 people alive that know how to properly get my car READY to start....then starting it is a whole other process.... I go as far as asking my friends to wait inside or away from the car...not cause I don't trust them, but all it takes is 1 slip.
Make it so the only way a thief can get your car is with a tow truck, you will eliminate about 95% of the thieves capable of getting your car that way.

Alarms, GPS, Guns, Dogs blah blah blah are all great...if they go off/work/wake up. Thieves have figured out how to disable that stuff and "fly under the radar". If it can't get spark or fuel it's going nowhere...period. So make those the biggest points of emphasis.

Re: My Honda got stolen, then recovered
Its a shame the world has come to this bs. I'd rather someone steal my **** then have to make it an inconvenient process to start for myself. Mine are cars, I love mine as much as anybody else and have blood, sweat and tears all over them but if they want it, they'll get it and my insurance will pay me and ill build a better one. Not many thieves are patient enough but if they are the tow truck is gonna get it, at least in my area. I have two cameras that face the driveway and a screen in my room that is motion detection so I know when someone is by my cars and they don't cuz I want them to think they're good until a bullet goes by them.
If you have liability only, then by all means make it a process but I just am straight up with my insurance, pay the extra monthly so ill get what the car and PARTS are worth.

Re: My Honda got stolen, then recovered
The reason I sold my 94 DB8 is because it took me 7 minutes to start my own car, and I was limited to where I could take it. It became stupid and pointless. Too much trouble for a 155whp $5k car.
