Ive just bought an 1994 ex,d16z6 and Im not sure if the vtech is working ,is there an easy way to tell. It seems pretty peppy but Im used to a saab 9-3 STG. 3 ,and its a bit slower than that but at half the ponies it would be.I love the car though and may turbo it,Ive got a 3071 sitting on my table and an old t-25 from my saab.Know though Im just wondering about the v-techsfunction. THANKS DAVE S>

And the CEL would come on. If you're going to redline, and the CEL isn't on, 99.99% chance that your VTEC is working. Also, you're comparing apples to oranges in comparing a Z6 to a 9-3.

Stock P28's activate VTEC at about 4500 RPM. You won't notice it. If you have an intake, you might hear it every now and then. You're most likely to hear it in 2nd or 3rd gear. You'll almost never hear it in 1st.

Hook up an led light to the vtec wire on the ecu and ground the other.
